Lamp change part of ongoing development
Infra-Red turns up the heat

The ongoing evolution of Woodson Hot Food Bars continues with the introduction of Infra-Red lamps.

Infra-Red light operates at a longer wave-length meaning it is more effective in maintaining heat in food products. This is because the heat goes beyond just the visible light given off by halogen lamps.

Whereas traditional Halogen lamps have a high-pressure gas filling, Infra-Red lamps have a much lower pressure meaning they are not likely to explode. The average life of Infra-Red lamps is significantly extended. Lamp manufacturer's data suggests that instead of the 1,000 hours operating life from Halogen, Infra-Red lamps offer approximately 5,000 hours life.

The new Infra-Red lamps are now fitted into all Woodson Heat Lamps (in Hot Food Bars and in Heat Lamp Assemblies) The ceramic ends not only show the Woodson brand, but clearly show the specifications – 300W IR. This data will also be punched into the front faces of the lamp housing.

Also aiding reliability is the lower actual temperature of the light fitting, a persistent reason for the failure of halogen lamps.

The fact that Woodson heat lamps are wired independently (and not in series like competitors lamps) means our displays will keep operating even in the rare event of lamp failure

The Infra-Red lamps are a Woodson product but can be used in any current hot food bar, as they come with the standard push-in ends (R7S Fitting). For details of spare parts contact Robin and ask for information on Part No- CMEL.0885.

Further research and developments into the lamp housing and Infra-Red lamp technology will see further safety, health, efficiency and reliability improvementss to Woodson heat lamps and related products. For details of our ongoing improvements contact Stoddart.
